lyrics

These bruises gather their maps
to colonize our bodies.
The mirror’s lake reflects flocks of pixels,
our skin the sky’s camouflage…

These bruises eclipse the sun.
We were children just yesterday,
welding the links of dawn’s chain reaction,
hula-hooping halos…

Our innocence a lie…

Sift through the remnants,
inoculate all the evidence…

Kidnap the catacomb contortionist,
abducting origami fingerprints,
sifting through our alibis…

Dyslexic cells of cartoon meat explode,
their children slide under the microscope
far too close to recognize…

Barbed-wire DNA’s spiral staircase,
the children climb up from their hiding place
and pretend they’re not afraid of heights…

Blackboard chalk outline in snow,
teaching sleeping seeds to grow.
Kiss the faint forensic glow—
time erased all thought of hoax…

This mirage is our only placebo…

Voodoo dolls with cactus acupuncture,
needles to contaminate the emptiness
with new phantoms of hope…

Heart beats sprouting from our flat line’s soil…
